The downstairs pantry...

The food I processed last year is almost done, a few jars to go but for the most part the 2009 bounty is done. I had cherries and pears in syrup that we enjoyed over ice cream and in our baking. The jam was used at home and at my diner and all the frozen tomatoes, Swiss chard and plums are gone. Time to plan for next winter...
Lots of empty spaces on shelves that were packed full of goodies.

And an empty freezer that also needs to be cleaned out.

We are almost in the same boat. We still have a few potatoes left, some Bread & Butter pickles and a bit of applesauce. The freezer is a bit better with deer meat and a few bags of frozen carrots and beans. Like you, need to start storing up for next winter. Hugs

I am getting low on jam and applesauce. There are a few jars of pickled carrots left, so DH is happy.

Where's all the meat from Art's hunt? You've done quite well using your produce. I've been working on ours but it was a much, much smaller store. I still have jam and blackberries, but not much. I haven't tried my experiment with pickled beans yet. I a bit afraid to try them. They tasted so salty when they went in the jar. But I guess there's no way to find out without opening it to see. When making pickles is it important to use all of the salt that is called for? I'm afraid to adjust things for fear of things spoiling. But we just don't like things too salty. - Margy

The moose meat is in another freezer and I don't count it because we can't eat it...well I don't have the time to cook it so we don't eat it. Art was talking to the butcher yesterday and we might have him make sausages with it which would make it easier for us to use as it will be much faster to cook it.
