We are not quite ready for chickens but soon..the coop is almost done. Art just needs to build nesting boxes, ladders, finish the roof, paint it and fence it..
This project is costing us about 200.00, hope it's worth it. Art tried to find scrap wood but it's nearly impossible. He made a few runs to the dump but couldn't find anything useful however we are beach combing for fence posts and we already have the wire fencing so that part will cost us $0 dollars.

The area of Powell River I live in is semi rural. My neighbors include horses, cows, pigs, sheep, chicken and one lama..
I would love to try chickens. Mrs. SG says no, but kudos to you for trying. Can not wait to see the chicken coop in action.
A long time ago we built a chicken house in our back yard it was a little bigger then yours. I had six kids in a small houes so before the chickens moves in my oldest son took it over and made it into his room he painted it on the inside and there was room for a bed and a dresser and a sm table he was so happy to have a room of his own away fron his sisters. He was about 13 at the time.
Art and I have been thinking about chickens for about 6 months, it was a tough decision, after all we have to take care of them and although I'm a homebody I do like to get out once in a while but we believe the benefits outweigh the negatives. and make sure you mind Mrs. SG..
Betty, I too looked at the shed as a possible storage shed but the chickens are still winning.
They just tore a cabin down next to us in Hole in the Wall. Don't know where it all went. It must have happened when we were in the States last time. It was there when we left and gone when we returned. I don't think they could have burned it on shore, there's not much space back there away from the trees. I guess they could have towed it away, but the logs they are using for a new float sure look like the old ones. - Margy
p.s. I saw your deck furniture out when we went by the other day, but not your boat. Hope you had a nice visit. How long will your chickens let you get away to go up the lake?
