Fancy bread

I tried twice now to make my own yogurt with no success. I followed this recipe the first time and my mom's the second. Both are almost the same; my mom adds one cup of yogurt to the milk and places the yogurt in a tepid water bath for the same amount of time, about 3 hours. So once again I have 4 cups of icky milk, with some lumps, some sourness and totally non drinkable..I give up.

But...my bread baking is getting better. My recipe is here but this time I sprinkled the unbaked bread with water and rolled it in a mixture of cornmeal , sesame seeds, oats and flax seeds, looks really rustic and tastes great.

Oh my gosh, I have also tried TWICE to make yogurt and no success. I finally just decided to give that up for awhile. Your bread looks delicious!

I like to buy breads with grains on the crust. I'll have to try this addition the next time I made bread. I haven't done it once this winter in my wood stove. Now it is getting too warm to get the fire so hot. At least now I use the propane oven once in a while. I just hate to do it too often. With the lights, refrigerator and the burners on the stove we get it to last about 45 days for the 60 lb tank and 30+ days for the new 40 lb tanks we got. They are so much easier to haul up and down the lake in the boat. - Margy

Hey Margaret- Thanks for the squash advice.....it really helped! Check out my latest post to see the evidence. That was the fastest acting advice I've ever had!
