Absence makes the heart grow stronger

My husband is back home after a two week trip to Northern British Columbia. Now I would be lying if I said I didn't miss him, alot. But when he first left I was sure I would not miss him all that much. And, furthermore, I was sure I could do all the little jobs around the house on my own and looked forward to time alone without all those little irritating things husbands sometimes do.

My husband and I have been married for almost 30 years and through all that time I somehow got it in my head that I was much more perfect than he was. Definitely less irritating and well just better...

How he put up with me for almost 30 years I'll never know cause guess what, I am that irritating and all those little jobs that he does are actually not that little and surprise, surprise I am not anywhere near that perfect....

The only thing I was absolutely sure about during these past two weeks was that the toilet seat would be down every time I needed to use the facilities.

Well I'm so happy that he is back home safe and sound and we can get on with our normal routines. I do my little jobs and he does his little jobs and we laugh together along the way. And this morning I got to sleep a little longer in our warm and cozy bed as he went out into the cold morning to let the chickens out. Why or why did I ever complain....

I agree time alone is great however it's nice to have our guys around to help with all that needs doing on our little "homesteads". Hubby is retired and I'm so glad because it does make a difference with all that he does.

btw - did he come home with wild meat??

I found your blog via the Down-to-Earth forum. I really want to visit here again.

I especially appreciate your honesty in this post. It made me smile.

And, I really want to try your beer stew. And, your pear mincemeat!

Best wishes for a wonderful day.
