Well Friday has arrived, and none too soon. My husband has gone up North to the Dease Lake area hunting for moose and well..when the cat is away the mouse will play. Which for me means sushi for dinner tonight with my son and daughter in law.
I'll be making another batch of dog food but this time with pork. I minced a pork roast in my food processor and then followed the dog food recipe I posted here. I purchased three pork roasts for $12.50, which makes this dog food very inexpensive. My dog has never been food driven, he likes his food and treats but it never really excites him, except for raw beef bones and this homemade dog food. Well worth the effort.
I also started a batch of ginger beer, again from the Down to Earth blog I read on a daily basis.
I'll let you know how it turns out and fingers crossed there will be no explosions..
And tomorrow I'll be going to the Powell River Fall Fair, a real down home country fair with lots of food, crafts and local produce for sale, should be fun.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Margaret

I'm not sure about the onions. Two years ago we had wonderful onions. Last year, they barely did anything. This year they are huge and we had a surplus. Our weather was cool and we did have rain when we needed it. Our friends onions mostly rotted this year though. Otherwise I can't help you. One thing, I planted mostly Spanish onions. The few yellow onions I had didn't grow very large.
I think with gardening so much is iffy. We had no cucumbers this year. Last year we had tons. Others had nice cucumbers this year because we were given boxes of them.
I have to correct this a bit Margaret. I know my tally shows more yellow onions than white, however they were MUCH smaller than my Spanish onions. My white onions were the size you see in stores and larger. The yellow ones were much smaller. Eighty three might seem like a lot, however it didn't fill a 10 lb onion bag whereas the Spanish filled 3 large bags.
This might help too:

Time alone must be great I haven't had any since my husband retired three years ago. Your ginger beer sounds great but too much sugar for me.
Sushi!!!!!!I love sushi can't get enough of it.We are lucky to have several around this area.I have yet to convince my husband that one does not die from eating it so this is a pleasure I also have to myself.Have fun at the fair.
